On a recent overcast day we decided to hit up a local brewery, one because we were curious about the place, and two, we were also incredibly hungry! We went to Otherlands Beer; a small but cozy location for lagers, farmhouse ales, and European inspired street foods.

We started with a half pour of some lagers—one called Quiet Night, Quiet Stars and the other Love Language. Quiet Night is a Czech dark lager with a malty and smooth finish while Love is an amber lager with more of a hop finish. I don’t particularly know much about beer, but what I can say is that they were both delicious!

For food we had the Pickle Plate as an appetizer and also a side of toast. The Pickle Plate was interesting (in a good way) as I’ve never had pickled grapes before. The eggs were also dyed (from pickling) a lovely bright yellow. The plate was salty and vinegary enough to satisfy any pickle fan. For the entree we chose Traditional Pierogis (potato and cheese) which was prepared in a creme sauce that included beer mushrooms and caramelized onions. So good!

Check out this low-key brewery if you’re looking for a place that has good brews, good food, and in general is known to celebrate the beautiful and absurd.
