NW Glass Quest

What is the NW Glass Quest? It’s a special 10-day event where you hunt for clue balls to receive a hand blown glass ball as a prize. Made by one of four incredible artists, each has a unique style giving you an interesting mix of glass balls you can win. This year marks the 16th annual event that takes place on Camano Island and Stanwood, WA. So what is a clue ball and where can you find one? Clue balls are approximately 3 inches in diameter and made of clear plastic. Inside is a piece of paper that directs you where to go to claim a glass ball. Here’s where it can get a little tricky though—some are camouflaged to look like the surrounding area they’re hidden in. Which brings us to our next question, where exactly are they hiding? Some are hidden in community sites, such as parks, preserves, farms. Others are hidden in businesses. This year there will be over 400 glass balls to win! Can’t find a clue ball? Non-Certified 2025 Glass Balls are for sale at select locations while supplies last.

Important things to remember while you quest:

1. Be Respectful
Host businesses have opened their stores to you, please abide by their rules.

When in Community Sites do NOT use sticks of any kind (including walking sticks). Respect vegetation, wildlife and leave no trace.

2. Don’t Ask
Enjoy the thrill of the hunt, don’t ask “has it been found today?”

Businesses may provide clues but this is not required.

3. Be Respectful (again)
All clue balls will be visible (camouflaged on occasion).

Please do not move merchandise or disturb vegetation – clue balls should be found using your EYES ONLY.

4. Time’s Up
If you have not found the clue ball within 15-20 minutes it is probably not there, don’t linger. Come back and try tomorrow.

5. Find & Have Fun!
Have a great time and limit your treasure to ONE per person per year. You can purchase as many Non-Certified 2025 Glass Balls as you like. Don’t forget to thank the host business!

My partner and I were lucky enough to actually find one this year (last year we didn’t). We also found new parks to walk in, coffee shops, quirky businesses. So it’s truly about embracing the experience of getting out and seeing new things!

Organized by The Camano Island Chamber of Commerce, this event runs from February 14th through February 23rd. For more information check out the website https://www.northwestglassquest.com/

Above all I think this event wishes to inspire two things:

Seek art. Be kind.
