Where do we even begin for this adventure? I guess it started with disappointment over not being able to attend an event like Coachella to see one of my favorite artists play, because you know “spendy”. This led my partner on a search for other groups and artists I like, for which they found something. Odesza was on tour, and not only on tour, but their last tour for the foreseeable future—we had to go! So we bought tickets and planned from there.
Our major concern was driving as the venue would be nearly 4 hours away. We decided to break up the distance by stopping in the cities we would be passing through. Our first leave off was in Leavenworth, WA. In case you didn’t know anything about Leavenworth it’s a Bavarian-styled village complete with alpine buildings and German themed restaurants. It has your typical souvenir shops, a nutcracker museum, even a Christmas themed store. We make a habit of stopping at J5 Coffee to get shots over ice with cream, and buy a bag of small-batch roasted beans (Emperor’s Espresso blend). From there we usually walk over to Whistlepunk Ice Cream Co. for a delicious scoop of either the tried and true flavors or something seasonal. I almost always opt for the Blackberry Fool; a blackberry sorbet folded into vanilla bean ice cream. My partner got Backyard Blueberry, which was good but no Blackberry Fool!

After our treat stop we got back on the road and headed toward Wenatchee, also known as the apple capitol of the world due to the valley’s many orchards. Our plan was to spend the night in the city. For dinner we ate at a bar called McGlinn’s Public House. They serve things like wood-fired pizza, burgers and more. My partner got the bbq’d pork pizza while I chose the creole shrimp with a house salad. We even had peanut butter pie for dessert because vacation, why not!? Our food was excellent and the service friendly.

Afterward we went to a park on the waterfront to walk off the dinner weight. We stopped and snapped a few photos of the Columbia River with the mountains as a backdrop. Absolutely gorgeous! From there we called it a night and returned to our hotel so we could prepare for the concert the next day.
