Cheese Eagle

Looking for a fun way to display cheese!? Maybe that’s never really crossed your mind, either way I’ve got you covered. To begin, start with a classic cheese ball recipe. I provided one below.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 dried oregano leaves
  • dash of ground black pepper

Extra Eagle Ingredients

  • 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup whole pecans
  • 1 mini yellow pepper, sliced in half
  • 2 sliced black olives
  • crackers, pretzels, vegetables or anything else you like to dip in cheese!

Instructions
1. Put cream cheese in a mixing bowl and mix until smooth. Add cheddar cheese, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, parsley, garlic power, oregano and pepper. Mix well.

2. Use a rubber spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl and gather the mixture into one lump. Form the mixture into a round ball, and from there begin to mold the cheese into it’s desired shape. You can make whatever you want really, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Set the shaped cheese on a plate.

3. Hold the cheese form with one hand and gently press mozzarella cheese onto the sides. Coat all sides. Next take the pecans and gently press them into the cheese, forming the eagle’s bib. Press yellow pepper into the upper segment of cheese to create a beak. Lastly, gently press the olives on either side of the cheese to create eyes.

4. Cover the cheese eagle in cling wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour to allow it to firm up. Take it out 20 minutes before serving to allow it to soften a little. Serve and enjoy!
